Day of Prayer and Giving

Once again this year we are using the period between Ascension and Pentecost
to hold a Prayer and Giving Day.

The period is kept by churches worldwide as a time of prayer called Thy Kingdom
Come, which is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians
around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come
to know Jesus.

We hope many at All Saints will wish to join in these 10 days of prayer, which
coincides as last year with the special Prayer and Giving Day which we will be
holding on Saturday, May 16th, based on our Generous Giving, Generous Living
initiative.

The church will be open from 9.30am to 4.00pm for private prayer, with short prayers each hour led from the front by Revd David, Revd Kevin and members of the intercessions team. At 9.30am there will be a short form of Morning Prayer and at 3.45pm the day will end with a short form of Evening Prayer.

A box will be available for any financial donations to the church or for offering                              your own gifts and time to our work.

What started as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the
Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer,
with 85 denominations from all over the world taking part. Every person,
household and church are encouraged to pray during the 10 days (May 14th –
24th this year) in their own way.

It is the movement’s hope and prayer, that those who have not yet heard the
Good News of Jesus Christ and His love for the world, will hear it for themselves
and respond and follow Him. Specifically, the movement invites each and every
Christian across the globe to pray that God’s Spirit might work in the lives of five
people who have not responded with their ‘Yes’ to God’s call. You can read the
booklets online by visiting: https://www.thykingdomcome.global/resources-0

There will be prayer resources to help you, which will available before the day
and on the day itself. Our church daily prayer sheet for your personal use has
been revised and is available in church.

This is a significant and important day for us at All Saints, giving a chance to
respond to God’s generosity through prayer and by practical giving and
stewardship. We hope that as many as possible will make an effort to come to
church at some point during the day, even if you are only able to make it for a
short time. In addition to praying for the world church it provides us with an
opportunity here to pray for each other, for God’s work and for All Saints as we
move forward with the diocese to be a place of Belonging, Believing and
Becoming.
